Both Malaga Airport and Gibraltar Airport (can be a good alternative when flying in from the UK) are about 70 km from the village of Benahavis, a 50 minute car drive away. Allow some extra time for customs when using the latter.

The municipality of Benahavis has more than 7000 inhabitants, just over 3000 reside in the village Benahavis. As with most of the resorts on the Costa del Sol, half of the population has a foreign nationality, 40% being British.
Distance to beaches:
Marbella is only 20 km away and can be reached by car in about 20 minutes. Nueva Andalucia, Estepona and San Pedro de Alcantara are more beach villages that are close by, reachable within 10 minutes. And when you want to combine a trip to the beach with boutique shopping and gourmet dining, you'll be in Laguna Village within 20 minutes.
Things to see and do:
Benahavis has breathtaking natural surroundings, making it perfect for hiking trips enjoying the uninterrupted views of the mountains, woodlands and rivers. The ruined Montemayor castle being one of the highlights. If you are a little more adventurous, canyoning down the waterfalls and plunge pools of the Guadalmina river is also an option.
Benahavis is known for the many restaurants that outline the main street leading up to a sunny square, often referred to as the gastronomic corner of the Costa del Sol. Not just traditional tapas but also more formal dining or foreign cuisines can be enjoyed out on the terraces or inside cosy restaurants.
If you want to go local, order the marinated pork fillet (solomillo de cerdo aliñado) whose recipe forms part of many Benahavis families’ traditions.
A highly recommendable by Beautytrends but less obvious choice is located on the outskirts of town, near the town hall; Escuela Hosteleria Benahavis. It's the local school for hospitality where students from Monday to Friday serve a degustation lunch menu with great value for money. Reservations are necessary and can be made by telephone or e-mail.
